About the Charles H. Houston Foundation

The Charles H. Houston Foundation (CHF) is a nonprofit organization comprised of lawyers, judges, and law students throughout North Carolina to strengthen the racial diversity of the legal profession and on the beach. Named in honor of the legendary civil rights practitioner Charles Hamilton Houston (1895 - 1950), CHF continues his legacy by offering programs to develop and nurture interest in the law among young persons from various ethnic backgrounds underrepresented in the legal profession and supporting their continued advancement.

Mission Statement

The mission of the CHF is to improve access to justice; to promote equal protection under the law; to be proactive in increasing racial diversity within the legal profession and to the bench; to bring services to the community; and to support the Foundation’s judges, attorneys and law students.
